The Move Back to America, Package 1 of 3!!! by James Sato

Hi all!

Sorry for the lack of posts. I have been getting resettled back home in America as well as getting ready to head back to university this Saturday!!!

Anyway, an exciting (for me at least!) event happened today. My first package from Japan made it over the ocean!!!

I can't wait to dig into and pull out all of the goodies I brought back from Japan!!!

End of my time in Japan, but not the end of my travels!!! by James Sato

Hello all!

So, if you keep track of me in Facebook, you would know that I have been back home in the United States for a couple of weeks now. Sadly, simply because I have left Japan does not mean that I am not still busy. :)

Anyways, just a quick check-in to show that I am still alive and working. I feel really bad for not posting for a month, so I will make it up to you all with (hopefully) more regular and interesting posts.

I am working to get an email update setup for this website, so I am really excited when I can get that online!

Apart from that, happy travels, and I will see you all in the next post!

Another weekend, another trip! by James Sato

Hi all!

So, title says it all. This weekend I am going to Yaita to meet up with my Uncle and family one last time before I leave Japan!

Like always, I will be using my favorite Japanese Rail System. Like all trips, you start with local transportation!

Travel Travel Travel, Try Try Try to Post by James Sato

Oh the irony!

As soon as I free myself from the hustle and bustle of my studies at Tohoku University, I am busy visiting family and friends and simply awesome Japanese locations before I leave Japan!

This past weekend I went to visit my friend Tadao-san in Saitama Prefecture. He showed me around the rustic town of Kawagoe, took me to two festivals and fireworks on consecutive nights in the neighboring towns of Ogose and Ogawa, and took me to Honda's Welcome Plaza where I was able to finally meet ASIMO and find my next car!

I also went to the Iwate area yesterday to visit Toyota's amazing factory and Hiraizumi, but I have yet to get to those photos.

Sadly, I will not be able to edit photos AGAIN. I am off to visit family in Yaita this weekend!!! Hopefully I can go to Nikko one last time before I return home!!!

Speeding along at 250 km/hr (155 mph) by James Sato

Hi all!

Presentations and exams over, so now I am enjoying travelling to meet family and friends in Japan before I go! Today I am headed to Saitama to meet up with a family friend and go to a local festival! I can't wait!

As for transport, I am using my favorite Shinkansen!!! Used a speedometer app to clock the speed. 250 kilometers an hour!!!! And no TSA to boot!

Happy Marine Day! Exams Over, Presentation Submitted, Festival TIME!!!!! by James Sato

I am a little late posting tonight, but happy Marine Day for all of my friends here with me in Japan. I think every country that touches the sea should have their own marine day to appreciate the bounties that the oceans give all of us every day either directly or indirectly!

Well, like that title says, I am done all but one of my exams, and have my final presentation submitted, so now i can enjoy Japan's many festivals!!!! Summer is also known as festival season in Japan, with a festival happening almost every weekend somewhere nearby. This past weekend, I enjoyed the Shiogama Harbor Festival (塩竈みなと祭), a popular festival in the nearby city of Shiogama, only 40 minutes away from Sendai Station. My friends and I went to enjoy the fireworks happening Sunday night!

Before that, I needed to get in the Japanese festival mood. I got myself a yukata!

What really amazed me with the entire experience was the wrapping that was used to transport my yukata. Beautiful paper!

Bought my Yukata from these guys. Buy from them if you ever are looking for Japanese traditional wear. Great group of people!

Either ways, had a great time at the fireworks yesterday. It as a little too dark to take pictures, so here are some firework and festival pictures for your viewing pleasure!

Every festival in Japan always has a live stage! Just follow the sound to find the festival!

Please excuse my absence, I am in Crunch time by James Sato

Hello all my friends.

I am taking a bit of time off to enjoy some Sunday Sushi at my local Heiroku Sushi! I have missed the taste of (cheap but tasty) sushi.

Only halfway through!

Only halfway through!

I want to use this post to excuse myself for not posting over the past couple weeks. It always is a bad excuse for such a simple to maintain blog such as this one, but I have been very busy with work and life here in Japan. I currently am completing 4 reports, studying for 3 finals, and preparing for a final research presentation and moving back to the United States (already?!!!!).

I just want to inform you all that I have much lined up to post after I free myself from much of this work, so I ask that you all wait for what I am excited to post in the upcoming weeks!!!!

More Lunches under 800 Yen! by James Sato

So, I probably should make this a lunch series on the cheap in Japan, but I am not certain how long it would go.

Anyway, I wanted something different today for lunch, so I have gone to the local Matsuno-ka near Sendai Station for a cheap lunch!

I ordered a Tonkatsu Set, complete with salad, miso soup, and rice. All of this for less than 800 Yen (6.50 USD)!!! Itadakimasu!
