Happy Marine Day! Exams Over, Presentation Submitted, Festival TIME!!!!! / by James Sato

I am a little late posting tonight, but happy Marine Day for all of my friends here with me in Japan. I think every country that touches the sea should have their own marine day to appreciate the bounties that the oceans give all of us every day either directly or indirectly!

Well, like that title says, I am done all but one of my exams, and have my final presentation submitted, so now i can enjoy Japan's many festivals!!!! Summer is also known as festival season in Japan, with a festival happening almost every weekend somewhere nearby. This past weekend, I enjoyed the Shiogama Harbor Festival (塩竈みなと祭), a popular festival in the nearby city of Shiogama, only 40 minutes away from Sendai Station. My friends and I went to enjoy the fireworks happening Sunday night!

Before that, I needed to get in the Japanese festival mood. I got myself a yukata!

What really amazed me with the entire experience was the wrapping that was used to transport my yukata. Beautiful paper!

Bought my Yukata from these guys. Buy from them if you ever are looking for Japanese traditional wear. Great group of people!

Either ways, had a great time at the fireworks yesterday. It as a little too dark to take pictures, so here are some firework and festival pictures for your viewing pleasure!

Every festival in Japan always has a live stage! Just follow the sound to find the festival!
